We Can’t Police Our Way Out of a Pandemic Report

The We Can't Police Our Way Out of the Pandemic group emerged in response to concerning and problematic public health and state interventions aimed at curbing the spread of COVID-19. One of our projects includes a dialogue series that brought  together activists and  organizations  who  were mobilizing  alternatives to policing COVID-19  across Canada  and  around  the  world.  The  basis  of  understanding for  the  conversation  was  that  it  be  centred  on  the  experiences  of  people  who have  historically  been  targeted  by  policing,  with  the  goal  of  proactively  seeking ways to end police violence during  the COVID-19  pandemic and beyond. We held  four dialogues  on March 28, 2020, April 18, 2020,  May 2, 2020  and May  23,  2020.  Out  of  these  conversations  we  have  developed  this  report which can  be  used  to  help  inform  ongoing  organizing  and  document  our  collective voices and learnings.
